Never Quite Like I Did

Never Quite Like I Did

A Poem by Jackelyn Ramirez

He didnt love me like I did him.
His arms never quite hugged me like mine did him.
He never worried like my brain did.
I loved him and sometimes he did too.
But never quite like I did.

I looked at him
and sometimes he looked at me,
But never with the same passion that I did.
I looked at him and saw the universe in his eyes.

He was my galaxy.
The moon, the stars, all wrapped into one.
I looked for him,
The same way scientists looked for planets.
Except I had my planet, but my planet was demolished.
Destroyed by a constant need.

I needed you,
But you didn't need me
Quite like I needed you to stay...
