Healing A Shattered Soul - Jonathan

 

Watching from afair

I see the tears fill your eyes

Never sure which one of you

I'm really looking at

So alike

Yes

Yet so far apart

Physical emotions repressed

Terror consumes you

And sadness overwhelms

The other you

Loving you both

I've found

It's impossible to stay

Indifferent to the separate pains

And the inescapable yearnings to fix it all

When even l know it's not really

Fixable

I want to hold you in my arms

One on each side,

Cushioned against my chest,

And listen to your breath

Easing in and out

In the gentle darkness of sleep

And when

I wake to the sounds of your screams

Protesting a verbal denial

And trying to escape unseen predators

Hidden within your mind

And hear him w hispering futilely,

Wrapping you in his arms

And trying to make it all go away

It's all l can do

To wrap you both in my arms

Draw the covers up around us

And pray for morning to come

Even as my voice begins it's work,

Soothing with unknown words

And hope the soft hesitant touches

Accompanying my words

Will ease your suffering

When darkness fadess

And clouds

Are soft fluffy white

Look into my eyes

Both of you

And see the safety

I want to give

And see the hope that holding you

Brings to me

Don't worry, because l'll never leave.
