Rooting

Rooting

A Poem by MiriamMB

There's a black crow in my throat

cawing omens

he's saying there's trouble

in my fledgling roots

he wants me to open my eyes

when I do,

the flowers that line my spine

are tight with blood

I've been rooting in a boneyard.
