Death Star

Death Star

A Poem by MiriamMB

He is a death star

he shrinks to lure life closer

he watches, patiently as dust gathers

into jagged spheres and

planets spring, birthing oceans,

mountains,

but his hunger is too great

and when the planets are lush and green.

he blooms his

sickening, radiating way,

swallows them all within the

folds of his plasma petals,

whole planets die inside him

death turns his fire

a cool blue,

his many fiery flagella jumping

twisting and reaching out into the darkness

in the way dying things always do,

beckoning life closer.
