about stormsA Poem by MiriamMBstorms, resilienceThe fishermen said to the sky, watching as waves crashed, some stories high, upon the little island's shore “we will outlive your fury your rage where would we be if you could unravel our lives with a few harsh breaths? If your lightening splits our bread fruits and our aluguntugui we will sow more seeds, if your thunder frightens our youth we will console them we will tell them of our origin we are the union of rock and sand and fire we are children of an island still forging itself to form land beneath our feet what else would we be to love the sea as we do for as long as we have? Our boats are moored, our huts are patched to keep the water out. and when your dark clouds have scattered we will ride the seas again and our children will run out in happy pairs to play, and share in the scattered fruit in our yards.” © 2013 MiriamMBAuthor's Note
