Chapter 2A Chapter by Miranda That night, Blaiz
and Misty slept together. But they secretly kept a silent watch for Kitara and
Naka. When Blaiz heard the almost silent paw steps, it took everything she had
to keep pretending like she was sleeping. She was determined to confront Kitara
about it, but she stick to the plan that Misty had told her. As soon as Blaiz
heard the paw steps leave the den, she rolled over onto Misty and kicked her.
That was their silent cue on when to wake up. Misty lifted her head and yawned. "They've
left the den," Blaiz whispered not wanting to wake Dustin and Cavalier. Misty rose to her
paws. "Come on, let's follow them," she said. Blaiz and Misty
took quiet, careful steps down the tunnel. They silently followed the scent to
a dead end. "What? How
can the scent just end?" Misty asked. She started sniffing the area. Blaiz sat down to
think for a moment. She looked at the wall carefully. She walked up and sniffed
the scent again. "Misty, this isn't a dead end," Blaiz began. Misty turned to
look at her. "What do you mean?" Blaiz looked at
the wall again, that's when she noticed that it bulged slightly from the wall.
She walked up and sniffed the crack in the wall and she caught a slight breeze.
"It's a sealed doorway." Blaiz stood up on
her hind legs and began to push on the door. The rock very slowly moved aside,
revealing a small opening. Blaiz and Misty went through the opening and
continued to follow the scent. Misty and Blaiz were so intent on tracking the
scent that they jumped when they heard. "What are
you two doing here?" Blaiz and Misty
spun around. Kitara and Naku were looking back at them with and irritated look
on their faces. "'What are
we doing here?' Why are you two here? Why are you guys keeping secrets from
us?" Blaiz snapped her fur bristling. Kitara stepped forward.
"It's not that we were keeping secrets so much as that we just decided not
to tell you guys." "What
exactly were you not planning on telling us?" Misty asked. "You would
have to see it before you would believe us," Naka said. "Follow
me." Misty, Blaiz, and
Kitara quietly followed Naka down a dark corridor. When they came to a dead
end, Naka motioned for them to take a close look at the wall. Misty and Blaiz
stared at the wall for a few minutes before they noticed strange pictures on
the wall. "What are
these pictures?" Blaiz asked, not taking her eyes off the wall. "We have
spent months trying to figure out their meanings and even who put them here.
Kitara and I believe that this is some sort of prophecy and that it involves
us," Naka explained. Blaiz spotted the images that were shaped
like wolves, she counted six of them. "Six wolves." she whispered in
shock. "Now Kitara
believe that we know how we got here and what the purpose for us being here
is," Naka continued. He stepped forward and stood next to Blaiz. "We
were all from different packs, two of us from three different packs. The wolves
that brought us were murdered by other pack members as soon as we were
abandoned here. As we go further down it shows what looks like the bodies of many
wolves, the red that they are laying in, Kitara and I believe that it's
blood." Misty stepped
back, she was completely horrified. "So our entire species is going to
die!" she exclaimed. "We believe
so, so Kitara and I have been trying to find other ways out of this cave." Just then, Dustin
and Cavalier ran in. They flopped on the ground, panting. Everyone turned in
surprise. "How did you
guys find us here?!" Blaiz yelled. "We're going
to die!" Dustin howled. "What did
you guys do?!" Kitara shouted. Just then, they
all felt water surround their paws. "The roof of our den collapsed. Water
is pouring down as we speak; we need to find a way out of here now!" Cavalier
shouted. This was the loudest they have ever heard him speak. The six wolves
quickly made their way back to the door, but found that it was closed. Water
was pouring in from the cracks. "We're going
to die!" Misty screamed. They all ran back
to the prophecy room. Water began filling the room they were in and then it
started to freeze. Blaiz huffed.
"Great, if we don’t drown first then we are sure going to freeze to
death." She jumped up onto a high ledge with Dustin and Cavalier. Misty,
Kitara, and Naka were on a ledge across from them. They watched in fear as the
water continued to fill the room. It wasn't long
before the wolves were half submerged in water. Blaiz huddled closer to her
companions and whimpered. She suddenly felt a warm pelt brush against her.
Dustin whispered in her ear. "I'm greatly
honored to die by your side." He nuzzled her affectionately.
If the circumstances were any different, Blaiz would have snapped at Dustin for
doing that. But Blaiz was terrified and welcomed his comfort. She tucked her
tail in between her legs and huddled closer to him. On the other side of her, Cavalier
came up and laid down next to her. This was the closest that the siblings had
been to each other since they've been living in the cavern. Just as the water
started to go over their heads, they suddenly heard a voice. "Do not be
afraid pups. You still have a prophecy to fulfill and you guys dyeing is not a
good way to start your journey now is it? Lie down under the water and be
frozen in time. We don't want you to set off on your journey too soon," a
godly voice instructed. Blaiz hesitated.
She could tell by the authority in the God's tone that he would ensure their safety.
'But what if it's a trick?' she thought. Her face was now the only thing above
water, she had no choice now but to trust the God. She sucked in her breathe
and dove under. As soon as she settled next to the rest of her companions and
closed her eyes and let the world go black. With that, the entire cave of water
froze around the six sleeping wolves. © 2013 Miranda |
