The Singing Of The Birds

The Singing Of The Birds

A Poem by Bee
"

Many sleepless childhood nights inspired this poem.

"
After a long and lonely night,
My heart leaps at what I hear.
The sky is still dark with fright,
But I no longer fear.
The birds have taken flight
Singing that dawn is near.
Soon, morning will shine it's lovely light
Drying my every tear.
The birds sing that it's all right
That the skies have never been so clear.
I watch dawn' stays of sunlight
Spread over the land I hold so dear.
Now the light restores my sight,
And all I hear
This hour, so heavenly bright
Are the birds joyously singing, "Morning is here"

Bee
Thank you for reading my work, I hope you enjoyed it! This particular poem describes how I felt when I was little, on the nights I couldn't sleep, or had woken from a nightmare too frightened to leave my bed or close my eyes. I was the only one awake in the house, and for some reason, that thought was very frightening to me when I was little. I would lie in bed, too scared to move, feeling so very alone, when the birds would start singing, usually a couple hours before it was actually dawn. Whenever they sang, I felt like I wasn't alone any longer, and I wasn't as scared. I haven't really felt this way for several years now, but they did help me get through a few rough years of my early childhood, and I really was overjoyed every time I heard them, so I decided to write a poem about it.
