So Long, My FriendA Poem by BeeIsn't it funny how quickly we move on...
So long, my friend
It's so hard to say goodbye When all my words of comfort are a lie I'm not saying I don't miss you now But I'll forget you Eventually, we all do So long, my friend I'd like to say you live on In all our memories But I know that a day will come When not one of us remembers you It's sad, but it's true So long, my friend Today we'll tell ourselves it's what you'd have wanted Just so we can live through tomorrow But I don't remember you quite so selflessly I remember a voice yearning to be heard A name not wishing to be forgotten So long, my friend Tears wetten our faces now But soon they will dry And you will surely sigh At how quickly we forgot That you ever were anything more than a passing thought So long, my friend We say we loved you But how could we have When we're so ready to toss your memories aside To forget in this life you ever did reside Just to lessen our own pain So long, my friend There's not much more I have to say Just remember that there was once a day Before I cast you away When what I said was true I loved you © 2014 BeeAuthor's Note
