Part ThreeA Chapter by Marcy Chavez
It was finally my day off work, so I woke up early and had a light fruit and cereal breakfast and after feeding Jester, we head out to the Park to take a walk. We walked around for a while and every time I passed in front of the fire house I felt so nervous, after all, it had been a few days ago and I kept thinking that maybe they had forgot about it, or what If I went there asking for the ones who rescued me and they didn't even remember about me?, they would think I'm crazy, or maybe they would feel pity for me, all of the possible excuses were going through my mind.
When we had already given twenty laps to the park, I stopped, closed my eyes and take a deep breath , then directed myself to the corner to cross the street , I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing. I was just a few buildings away from the fire station , I felt that my heart jumped in my chest , I was very nervous . When finally were there, we entered by the garage where the fire trucks were, but the place seemed to be empty , so I decided to walk further until I reach a door leading to the kitchen , to my surprise I heard a voice behind me that asked me if I needed help. After I recovered from the small scare he gave me, I turn back and look at the man who was there. "Sorry do not mean to scare you " " Don't worry , I didn't see anyone at the entrance and I- " " Yeah, sorry I was under the truck checking the tires , but how can I help you? " But I did not know what to say I felt ridiculous , but what he did next save me from say too many words, at least in part . He bent down and looked at jester. "Do I know you buddy?" he told my dog, then he looked into my eyes and said. " Are you the person we pulled from the lake along with the dog the other day?." " Yes, I am " I said embarrassed. However he smiled at me and he had the most charming smile I've ever seen . "I'm Richard ," he said extending his hand to me. But I was paralyzed, he was just so handsome. "Are you all right?", he asked me. "Yes, sorry! I was distracted, so I am Marcy nice to meet you". I said shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you Marcy, so how can we help you?". "Well I just came here to say thanks to you for saving me and my dog the other day" "And you came all the way here just to thank me?". He said with surprise on his eyes. "Yes, and the other guy that was with you". I said looking around for more people. "Oh yes, Harry he's not here right now, but I'll tell him". "I really appreciate it Richard I mean, all the work you do for us and we take it for granted most of the time". "Hey no problem, is just our job, and I am glad I could help you and your little dog". "Ok, good bye have a nice day" I told him. "Same to you". Then we left the station and went back to the park to walk for a while before returning home. As I was walking, every time I passed by the corner where the station was, I noticed that Richard was standing outside and he was looking at me, I pretended that I didn't notice because my face felt like it was burning from all the blushing going on.
