Chapter One: Introduction

     There is really no way for me to discribe myself. I didn't know what was happening to me until I met the Alley Cat. By the way my name is Lucinda Barren. I have sleek black hair and ocean blue eyes and I think I might be going a little crazy. Anyways I live in Chelsy, Vermont. I live in a small white home with my older brother Kyle Barren. Our parents died in a plane crash. I have lived with my now 21 year old brother for 3 years. Anyways, as I said before we live in a small white house, it is on the north side of town. We are surronded by pine trees and maple trees. Kyle works as an electritian to pay for the house and me. Luckily im turning 15 soon so I can get a job and help with the payments. Our parents left me a fortune that I can only get when I turned 18. I don't know why they left it to me and not to Kyle; Kyle was the smarter one, the older one, and the empoloyed one. Some things my parents did I will never understand. For example why did they get on that plane? There was no reason that I could see, they just up and left. My parents were always strange and sudden, they did things without thinking and they were always jumpy. So by the time I was 6 years old I was as independent as a 12 year old should be.

      Anyways my story begins on a cold summer morning when mist was coiling around me and the dew in the grass was soaking my feet.
