Life boatA Poem by MinnieWalking the line wishing for a lifeboat to save you
Early morning shame, the floor is cold on my bare feet. The air is thick but being alone is calming. I watch the sun set and rise and I have no intention of sleeping until I have seen it all. This tight rope is keeping me balanced until I am ready to fall. The crowed is watching, waiting for me to jump and hit the ground harder than before.
I see everything under me, for once I only look down to see how far down I have to fall. short not tall, I am scared after all. As I lift my eyes to the sky I see the cloudless sky, One tear from my eye turns into an ocean that form under me, so I fall, lose it all, the water is rushing and the air is turning thin. I hit the water with every intention to swim, I open my eyes to see if I am still alive and I am. Shock of the cold water keeps me awake but my body beings to shake. I reach the surface and take a deep breath, I find the water all around me, nothing less nothing more. I just float on my back hoping to find land, a place to put my feet in the sand, a pillow for my head, and warm fire to light my heart again. I float til I feel earth under me, its the grass so soft, soft as the sky. I crawl and get to the safest place, and sleep til I can stop shaking. Waking up to thunder and dark skies only happens all the time, the rain falls the wind blows, the lightning is my only way of seeing, I run and run, but it seems to not let up. I am scared but I am blank. Finally I find a way out. The cliff, with a tight rope leading nowhere, I take one step at a time, and only feel the air, see the sky and ocean the long term view is scary and blurry but I am still walking on my toes with no one around me to see me fall, it must be a life boat to come save me, I fall and hit the sail, and feel the waves crashing on the side of the life boat. I stay there I do not move just let the life boat be taken away by the waves. © 2013 Minnie |
