A Poem by Shaun Rudie

your muscles flex against mine

sliding warm pressure

we allow this ease

into each other

our minds preoccupied

with emotion,

as our legs,

our arms,

our lips

pull away from kissing,

not too far, can still

feel your warm breath

your eyes, bright as

inspiration, hold

mine

we share a thought

  the same one

pull each other closer,

tighter,

holding the moment

between us

protected

from time

This is what I enjoy about this poem: That the images I see/read are more than the obvious sensual visuals; that the truth is all about entwined emotions and the closeness that evolves with that deep concern for each other: "your eyes, bright as/inspiration, hold/mine" (love those lines!)
I am reminded, once again, of your forte in wrapping a poem up with just the right amount of emphasis on a lasting image. I always look forward to those final few lines from you.
And so that "moment/between us/protected/from time" is a gift to this reader, giving me my own moment in time to reflect.
