Insanity

Insanity

A Poem by Shaun Rudie

insanity

a ripping tease,

breaks in continuity,

randomness with a lean

toward entropy

it is a curious, agitated squirrel

scurrying up columns of logic in

wild zig-zagging no-pattern,

hopping off because the morsel

of thought is buried under the

earth,

which is under grass,

which is now underfoot

insanity believes the morsel of

thought is edible, not

something to express

insanity is trying to wrap your mind

around love

I admit I thought this poem would lead me anywhere but toward thoughts of what love is! Having squirrel-watched a few times, I thought the imagry perfect for your end-line. This piece makes me think back to times when I was squirrling mentally over love, my crazy stuff coinciding with my greed: "insanity believes the morsel of/thought is edible, not/something to express".
I enjoyed the inspiring mental leap your words required of me!

This is both thought provoking and fun. A wild conglomeration of thought and feelings, yet it left me with a clear picture of the emotions behind the words. Having had my brush with the neurotic I can fully appreciate the thought process. Well written!
