The sharks were the life guards.

The sharks were the life guards.

A Poem by williams
"

"Sometimes, drowning feels safer than resurfacing only to face more pain."

"

"Sometimes, drowning feels safer than resurfacing only to face more pain."

In an ocean of sadness,
all I could do was drown.
a light meant to save me forsook me"
just a mirage,
meant to deceive.

The depths felt cool,
calming,
peaceful,
welcoming.
it felt like home.
though I’d never known such a thing,
somehow, it did.

But as soon as I reached rock bottom"
which felt euphoric"
the sharks came.
the ones who swore they’d save me
only circled closer,
watching me sink.

I was choking
on something I couldn’t name.
was I angry?
was I just... tired?

The ocean felt it.

my clear mind turned stormy,
blurred.

Even when you find peace
without them,
they return"
like tides
ready to carry you away
and swoop you off your feet.

is this it?
is my life just a loop
where happiness is a word
with no emotion behind it?
just noise?

where peace
is a bird in a cage.

I let go
of the home the ocean gave me"
it’s all I could do.

because as weak as I am,
fighting back
would only give me
more bleeding scars
than I already have.
