Pushing Me AwayA Poem by MimoziI have been toying around with various poetry forms, this one being my attempt at a VILLANELLE. I love this style, the rhyme and repetition give it a slightly neurotic feel and a sense of urgency. It often feels like a chant or a prayer of sorts. This pieDoubting everything I do and testing everything I say And though you claim you want us closer, My love, you’re pushing me away You fear your love I would betray, Comparing me to those who didn’t stay you’re Doubting everything I do and testing everything I say I am tired of this game we play! I love you but I’m tired of fighting, My love, you’re pushing me away And would you really love me if I stay After my will is broken and I succumb to Doubting everything I do and testing everything I say Why do you torture us this way? I’m not a saint but I am here and yours and still My love, you’re pushing me away And do you really love me anyway? And can’t you see you are slowly killing us by Doubting everything I do and testing everything I say My love, you’re pushing me away © 2008 MimoziReviews
