A Pained HeartA Poem by Mimi
A Pained Heart...
- Like a shadow you are always there whenever the light shines but quickly disappear as soon as it turns dark..."Joy comes in the morning" I've heard them say but all I've seen is sorrow... - I watched from the stands as you tossed and kicked my heart like a soccer ball and pretty soon it shuttered into a thousand pieces...but patiently I watched you put every piece back in its place... - Every stitch was filled with agony and you softly said "This hurts me more than it does you" but I searched for the pain in your voice and I found none instead a hint of satisfaction from your power hungry eyes... - My happiness annoyed you, after all why should I always be in the spotlight when you are the craftsman, the master of manipulation... So my poor brain stood no chance against your mind games... - "I fought a good fight" my head told me and thinking became a pain...now I'm a sucker for pain...I took it all in with every heartbreak and every punch just to see that rare smile on your face... - I lost my mind and in that process I lost sight of what is good and soon after I lost my voice...my screams became useless mumbling...slowly the stinging pain in my heart disappeared...no it didn't stop but I couldn't feel a thing anymore... I had become numb... - "You've grown strong" I heard them say but all I did was getting used to the pain..."I've seen better days" I'd lie...but then again all I have is my pained heart to keep me going. © 2018 MimiAuthor's Note
