A Chapter by Bebi Deru

Ara starred out the window, moving her fingers slowly as rain splashed against the glass, Her door to her room was open to let in more light then she wanted. "Ara time to take your meds." An orderly by the name of Phil said as he pushed a cart into her room.
"Phil...." Ara said in a soft voice.
"Yeah, it's me Ara. You need to take your meds." Phil said, moving closer to her. He knew Ara was scared of everyone and everything. She would scream at very shadow and cry if someone even talked about a dog. He was told she was put here because she killed the family dog, but Phil knew a girl as small as her would never do that.
"I'm not schizophrenic Phil and I don't hallucinate... I don't need to take those pills." Ara said, annoyed yet a little sad. "I didn't kill Mishka. Raf killed her, not me." Phil looked up in surprise, he has never heard of a Raf before.
"Ara who are you talking about?" Phil asked, curious. Ara turned her head towards him. Her hazel eyes still having life after being here for a month.
"The Curse of the Angel. It's what killed Mishka," she pushed her chair over to a small metal desk with a huge book on it. Phil wasn't surprised that she had a book, that's all that kept her quiet when it stormed. She flipped a couple of pages and motioned for him to come closer.
He took a few steps closer and noticed papers underneath the book that had writing on it and sketchs of claws. Then he looked at the book and saw a picture of a Gargoyle ripping into a human being in a church courtyard.
"Ara I dont think you need to be reading that." As he reached for the book Ara's head snapped around and glared at him with yellow eyes. She blinked and then her eyes were normal. Phil gulped and watched as she flipped through the pages, speaking at the same time.
"Rafeal a thousand years ago decided to make a church the place of rest in the age of the slaves. It was apart of the under ground railroad. It was burned down at one point but then rebuilt. Once it was rebuilt the gargoyles attacked the workers, they made sure no one was left to explain what they found at the church," Ara said flipping another page that showed a crypt with unknown symbols, "many people believe that there is a crypt or its even the holly grail but I don't know." Phil's head started to hurt from confusion as Ara turned to him. "I need to leave." Phil shook his head and put the pills beside her.
"Not possible Ara. Its not possible." Phil said as he left, leaving Ara staring after him. She bit her lip and threw papers onto the ground and whispered.
"Why won't anyone believe me! I need the library!" Ara got up and left her room, her slippered feet made no sound against the tile floor. As she rounded a corner a girl's voice called out.
"Hey you! I have something to tell you!" Ara slowly turned as a girl with black hair came near.
