FEARS

FEARS

A Poem by Regan Meade

Inky blackness is all I see

As I walk down the path in front of me

Before me is the ones I hold so dear they’re my family.

Their eyes are so cold and dead.

Before me are the ones that I have let down

My fears presented to me in a way that stops my heart.

The fear of rejection

The fear of being alone.

I am scared and the dull thrum of my heart.

Afraid of the emptiness inside that can consume

Without a second thought is devours me.

Tears of black and blue and red stream down my face.

As I fall to knees, trying not to succumb to the darkness that has

Warm welcoming arms wide open waiting for me.
