Sandy

Sandy

A Poem by Regan Meade

A solitary figure among the trees

Ignores the on-goings around her

Nothing matters more than the book

Wishing to be something else

Fairytale endings don't exist

Fighting has started again

Obnoxious sounds rise from their throats

I wish they’d stop

Magick is not a miracle anymore.

Scratching of pencils on paper

The cool air straight off the water

Days like this are few and far between

But they are the only things I have

A lone stone

Along the Sandy river.
