Death of an Orchid

Death of an Orchid

A Poem by mikaylalocklear1
"

This poem is meant to incite the necessity of abandoning past passions in order to foster the growth of new love.

"
Today I missed you

I saw you in the eye of an Orchid.

Violet and deep-

Its petals had began to wilt.

Thirsty soil, forgotten.

As so many times

I traced the steps towards the kitchen

and poured from the sink into that tall thin vase,

water for his roses.
