It wasn't the pain that I feared,
It was the fear that my eyes mirrored.
It wasn't the courage that I lacked,
It was my life that was staked.
It was more than just a feeling,
A punctured soul without healing.
It was a dream pictured by a fiend,
A dazzling light that made me blind.

The imagery so well used to express the pain and fear that smothers the soul and the loneliness that makes the pain so much deeper. Trying to hide the pain inside so others don’t suspect, you’ve expressed such a complicated feeling so well that the reader can also feel the pain and “punctured soul”. Please keep writing.
