Sneak Peak

He was her guardian angel, and she was his reason to fight.

How I had made it to that stone wall, only a spectator would know. After hours without end, searching for that small patch of light, my eyes were irritated and my ears were deaf. I was longing to be home, where I at least had my bed.

‘Alina, why must you? Disobey the kingdom and leave behind all the treasure and life?’

‘That is not life.’

I had seen three to four innocent people with wings fall to the floor with nothing but defeat in their eyes every day.

‘Set foot on the other side and you will never see the light.’

‘I will see more light there than I ever will here.’

Rune looked at me with his wrathful beady blue eyes, stepped closer and placed a hand on my face.

‘May the good kin bring you back to your kind, my dear.’
