Cardiac

Cardiac

A Poem by MikiMoore

We stumbled out of bars through red lights

Past vacant mannequins who watched us go by

We left our silhouettes on pavements

And danced into the night like it could be our last

But how time

Slips through our infant hands

When they cut your wires

I could drink this City dry

I watched you rise

And burn like a funeral pyre

With last goodbyes

You fan the flames

You fan the flames in my heart

You fan the flames

You fan the flames in my heart

This could be our last

We crawled along the streets as shadows

Neon lights reveal your off-white veneer

We dropped our cigarettes on pavements

And head-first through the night like this could be our last

You fan the flames

You fan the flames in my heart

You fan the flames

You fan the flames in my heart

This could be our last

Cardiac
