Chapter 25

“Misaki! Hey, Misaki!” Sasuke yelled.

I opened my eyes and found myself on the floor of my apartment, Sasuke and Yuki staring down at me fearfully.

I shifted my eyes to the ceiling and took deep breaths, trying to control myself.

“What...Happened?” I breathed.

“I don’t know. Ryuu told us to get the things and when we came back you were lying on the floor...It was scary...You didn’t have a pulse or a heartbeat...You were dead.” Sasuke said slowly.

“What happened?! Why was your voice turning demonic and then back to your own voice?! Why did you have that attack?? Is this a regular thing?!” Yuki babbled frantically next to Sasuke.

I looked to them both slowly, taking everything that just happened in.

“Ryuu...” I croaked. “What happened to...Ryuu?”

Sasuke looked uncomfortable. “Nothing. We..Well..I tried to talk to him but I couldn’t get through. You were both just...Gone....What happened?”

I sat bolt upright, my hands flying to my chest.

“Ryuu?! Ryuu?! Can you hear me??” I asked crazily.

No response.

I clutched my chest as the hole opened up again.

“Ryuu...Ryuu...You can’t be gone...My best friend...Bring him back...You brought me back...Now bring him back.” I said, lurching forward and wailing into the floor. “RYUU!!!” I yelled.

Shut up already, you’re giving me a headache. Jeeze. Can’t a guy take a nap? Ryuu mumbled groggily.

I gasped and stood up straight, as if he was really there.

“Ryuu?! Where are you?? What happened? Are you okay?!” I said frantically.

Calm down, you look like a mental patient. I’m where I’ve always been, inside your body. Jeeze, think a little. He said lazily.

I stared at the wall crazily and lowered my arms. “You’re talking so calmly...So that means...You didn’t see it?” I said quietly.

He was quiet for a second and I felt Sasuke’s hand rest on my shoulder.

“No, I saw it. More like I heard it, they never revealed their identity.” Ryuu said bitterly.

I bowed my head slightly, “And? Is it true...What they said? About...” My voice broke off suddenly.

I felt my head nod involuntarily. “Every word they said was true. I am so sorry, Misaki. I’ve deceived you all this time...Without even meaning to...Forgive me...” He said mournfully.

I bit my lip and fought back tears. “It’s not your fault...I didn’t know...You didn’t know...But...Ryuu...I need to know one thing...What did my parents do to you? All those years back...On that day...What did they do?!” I spat, my head spinning as Sasuke walked in front of me.

“Your father led me down a hallway...Into a dark room where he beat and tortured me until I was on the brink of death. Then...He took out a scroll and sealed a monster worse than a tailed-best inside of me...He sealed one of the 3 spirits of death into my body.”

I felt my knees give way and I fell once again one my hands and knees, any food in my stomach being pushed out violently.

“HEY!” Sasuke yelled, rushing to my side as I collapsed in a pathetic heap.

“Sa-Sasuke...I...Have to tell you...Something...Something important...” I stopped as my stomach heaved again, this time nothing but a thick, dark red substance came up.

Yuki screamed and ran into the bathroom, coming back with towels and water.

“Sasuke...” I breathed.

“STOP TALKING! Hurry Yuki! She’s dying!” Sasuke yelled.

I laughed quietly as my strength drained from my body, “Shut up...I have to...Tell you something....” I trailed as I began to tell him everything I and Ryuu were told.
