I am SlaveA Poem by Mike WolfeWe're held in chains. We strive for more. For freedom. But there is only one key to the locks. On your knees, beg you piece of trash You’re a fool, you can’t break those chains No matter how hard you can thrash I am Slave Taste the whip and hit the ground hard Now salt the wounds and watch them bleed You will be left shattered and scarred. I am Slave There is no where you can go hide Surrender and stop your struggle You’re defeated and dead inside I am Slave Who is the man that comes my way? Another tormentor or worse? His gaze makes evil look away. I am Slave Look away slave! Your hope is gone! He cannot save you, not from us You will not see another dawn I am Slave The man turns and he looks at me I have never seen love like his He is the one who makes blind see I am Slave Evil turns on him with hatred They let their whips fly on his back I hate seeing him degraded I am Slave He falls to the sand, back bleeding He was taking the whip for me. I can’t watch, evil is succeeding I am Slave His chest stops rising. Cold and dead Evil cheers at the hero’s fall But then I see him lift his head I am Slave Evil can’t believe what it sees He’s conquered evil and death He did all this to make me free I am Free Evil decides to turn and run I can’t believe what has happened. And this is all thanks to the Son I AM FREE! © 2014 Mike WolfeReviews
