Smoking a vanilla flavored primetime
I can't believe it's not a joint
Sitting outside just watching time fly
Thinking, "what's the point?"

I chose a cancer stick
Over weed
It makes me sick
It's so unlike me

What's this world coming to
It looks like the end
Just a puff or two
And I know I'll be good again

A song comes on that makes me smile
A song that says the words I'm trying to say
I guess I'll just sit here for awhile

Just to sit back and watch the world go by for a little while sounds inviting....

Your poem reminds me of the kids at school, hanging out in the field smoking joints and cigarettes - I would look at them and think..."stoners" as I ran around trying to be perfect. Perhaps they had the answer all along..

I used to have this state of mine, but decided why take the chance I want to be on this earth as long as I can and gave up the pot, cigarettes, alcohol and out of marriage sex. I like the style of this poem though it does remind me of those days. Sitting outside puffing on a Marlboro. Can't say I miss it.

Wicked s**t bro! Love it. Insane in the membrane. Cypress Hill, Pantera, Cheech and Chong fests. Crazy times man. Chronic, smoking blunts and billies to the hilt back in the day. Can't do it here in Japan at all which sucks. Far too risky. The Japanese government treats pot the same as it does heroin and makes no distinction in sentencing based on amount. You could do up to ten years on a minor personal usage charge here. Japanese jails can be hellish for foreigners: there's potential for forced confessions, beatings and indefinite detentions without access to proper legal representation. So I learned to live without it completely. (Sigh)

I wouldn't go at it hard these days though, even if I could, because I was down to being an occasional social smoker back in Oz before I came, but there would be nothing better than the occasional peace spiff at barbeque, or for a bit of philosophical stargazing and nature inspired poetic inspiration. I frikkin miss that.

I believe people should have the freedom to choose to explore their consciousness with natural plant substances without interference from the authorities if they wish. Aspects of our brain chemistry have evolved in partnership with cannabis over tens of thousands of years after all.

The government fear over cannabis is less about its smoke-a-bility and much more to do with the fact that its one of the single most powerful and beneficial plant substances known to man. If it were totally legalized, it would single-handly destroy the pharmaceutical, textiles, and cosmetics and oil industries almost overnight. But of course, I'm preaching to the converted here. This is pot school 101 stuff along how to get a good seal on your bong stem using bubblegum. So i'll stop my ranting...puff on dude! Have one for me cause I can't.

I quit smoking about 7 years ago, sometimes I miss sitting on the porch wondering what the hell was going on, in life etc. All while I sat back and enjoyed the 'fresh' air. LOL Of course I can't stand the smell of it now, and s**t-- I haven't been high since I was 17....can't even remember what that was like. This made me think of my past, it was nice to do.
