On one level, this is true; every basic story has been told (I took a class dealing with this in college that was quite interesting), but the differences come in the "telling". I mean, I was watching a TV show the other day, and I caught myself realizing that it was totally the formula for "Silence of the Lambs", but the "telling" of it was different and thus I found it very enjoyable. So...clever write, introspective, and well done.

Be turned into a poem that doesn't scream that the idea is the same as the movie?

Perhaps we tell many of the same stories, but told in different ways can make it enjoyable.

I actually wrote a sad poem last night. I read it to my cousin
and she said it was the same thing as a song she heard, i went to have a listen
exact story line as mine.... i trashed it :(
