The doll

The doll

A Poem by MikeV
"

The doll

"
She sits alone with watery eyes
with nothing to hold but a doll dressed as a bride
a gift from her mommy, before she passed away
a gift worth more then money, atleast to her anyway
she cradles it in her arms, and rocks it back and forth
As she watches her mommy being lowered into the earth
mommy why'd you have to die? She asks, stifling a cry
but to this question she gets no reply
she traces a heart atop her mommies grave
and leaves the doll behind, as she sadly walks away

While reading this it hit me that we cherish and hold dolls so much that we fill them with so much emotion that they really do carry a part of energetic selves. It is sad...feeling her leave that part of her behind. Like a void that will never be filled. I also liked the touch with the heart being etched on the grave. xo

Oh mike. This is a tough one. A parent who must leave their child. Arghhh.

No, you chose the true ending; that is most important. It was a great write.

This one's a tearjerker Mike, different from what I've read from you, a heartwrenching read, yet very lovely and affecting, kudos.

Aside from typographical errors, I really like this. You capture a story and evoke an emotion within a small amount of space. It pulls on the heartstrings.
