Cosmic Eye

Ode to Carl Sagan

The glossy glimmer in my eye,

It reflects the stars and worlds that I spy,

Distant in the endless night sky,

You can see you in it,

You can see me in it,

It reflects all from which it came.

From once it was,

Now forever is,

Will be,

Should be,

A member of the infinite ocean,

Of awakened stars.

Matter strewn from the heavens,

Comes to life,

Consciousness.

A wondering mind,

A wandering mind,

A desire to know more,

And more,

And more.

My eye,

Sees it all,

It was it all,

And someday,

Will return to it all.

The cosmic life cycle.
