We were doomed all along.
Without followers, there are no leaders. The Sheppard is lost with no One to be heard. All the strong Couldn't be without the weak. And a repressor cannot afflict Without those who gave him power, Those who listen when he will speak. As there is no order without chaos, And no religion before Eden was lost.
