The CadaverA Poem by promisedtothetidesShoutout to Dawn the CadaverThey brought out the cadaver in class 10:30 am First of the day When they unwrapped the orange bag he was in Some students ran out Said they couldn’t handle it His name was Dawn About 50 years old Died from cancer I can’t remember which one His body was for science and in the name of learning They gave us his lungs We passed around his heart My stomach turned but I stood and held it with care I passed my fingers over his eyelashes He continued to rest there in peace His purpose was to educate I thought of how selfless he was To be able to give over his heart Again and again To allow us to see What will eventually be To show us what used to move him As he lay still Moving me © 2024 promisedtothetidesFeatured Review
