Summer's End

Summer's End

A Poem by promisedtothetides
"

something i captured when the world was wavering

"

As I walk I caught

The kiss of a cool breeze

It radiates off the grass

Where I watch the kids throw balls in the park

the sun sets so soon now and then

It’s dark

It’s been bright for so long that I cannot fathom

The shortness of it

But I know it’s coming

For I forgot about the quiet

I’ve spent months running from it

Chasing the storms, roaring wind in my ears

I thought I was getting somewhere

it all felt so real

I forgot

To remember the bliss in the space

Of what my life’s come to and what’s to come

To realize there’s still time

Standing at the edge

of summer's end

You’re never too old to amend

Love once thought lost

never bend so much one way

That you forget to sway

Silence is merciful

I’ll sit in it while the Earth is still full, plentiful

Grateful
