Chapter One: Assault

Regaining consciousness in the old cottage I had taken refuge in, I sighed and stood up. Looking out the window, the storm was still here and there were no signs of it stopping. I gripped the crystal necklace the angel had given me. Are you still sad my dear Angel? I shook my head and went to the kitchen to eat my dinner.

“Hey! There’s a cottage up ahead and someone’s in!” I heard someone shout from a distance, the ability I had gain since I had received the necklace.

A minute or two later there were loud knocks at the door. A few voiced crying for help, by their voices they were about 3 or 4. I got up and pulled on the hood of my jacket and opened the door to see 3 boys and a girl.

“May we please take shelter in your house?” The girl asked shivering.

I didn’t speak but step backward and motioned them to come in so they did. I closed the door without making a sound and went to the closet and got 4 blankets. They were shivering badly as I gave them the blankets and proceeded to the fireplace to start a fire. Once the fire was up and running I stood up and looked at them who was still standing at the middle of the hallway.

“Sit down and rest.” I commanded with a shallow voice as I passed them and went up. “Eat anything you want, just don’t come up.”

And with that I left them and went up to the attic. I could feel that they were not normal humans. They are somehow mixed blood but I cannot tell which race. Looking out of the window and to the moon, I wonder when the rain will stop. I cannot stay in one place for too long, which would be dangerous.  I then saw a shooting star which made my heart leap in fear.

“They’re early…” I scowled and pulled the curtains and extinguish the candle that was giving the light in the room.

I swiftly ran to the living room and pulled the curtains close and extinguishing the fire. The four were confuse and irritated to what I have done but I continued and barricaded the front and back door. Then lastly I blew off the candle from the kitchen rendering the whole house dark.

“What is going on?” The tallest of the boys asked, his eyes glowing in the dark… So he’s a vampire…

I put a finger on my lips as shadows started to reflect from the outside through the window. The girl covered her mouth as she was dragged to the floor by her three companions. 6….7….8…. there were 8 of them outside and 2 at the rooftop. I signaled them to stay put as I sneaked to the kitchen…

“Damn.” I muttered as I was thrown to the wall by a heavy force, causing me to hit the staircase. I glared at the masked man in front of me. He clutches my neck and pulled me up until my feet cannot touch the floor.

“Game over.” His deep voice still sends shiver down my spine but I cannot let fear overcome my senses.

I smirked and pulled out a gun from my pocket and shoot him in the stomach, causing him to stumble back. Being free I ran to the living room and saw the 4 teenagers handling an assaulter themselves, though it’s quite clear that they have the disadvantage. I pulled out needles and threw them at the masked men and instantly they dropped dead.

“What’s going on here?!?” The shortest boy shouted, though we were the same height.

I only ran outside with them following after a short while. Through the thick woods and heavy rain, I cannot sense where the enemies. I grunted and drew my metal rod just in time as another one assaulted me with a sword. I kicked him and crashed my metal rod to his neck making him loose consciousness. The four looked at me as if I was a monster but I disregarded it. The important thing is we survive this assault.

“Two more” I mumbled to myself as I continued running through the harsh weather.

“KYAA!!”

I turned around to see the girl being held captive of the remaining two. The three boys badly wounded but were still on their feet. I blended with the shadows and reappeared behind them, hitting them with my rod at their vital point and catching the girl. I pushed the girl to the three boys and ran off, I cannot stay here any longer.
