Prologue

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star….

How I wonder what you are…

Up above the world so high…

Like a diamond in the sky….

Melody is such a serene thing I always had treasured. Every night, when I was a child, I slowly drifted to sleep with the voice of my mother singing this lullaby. Repeating and repeating until I had fallen to the world of dreams.

Opening my eyes I had always arrived into this overcast vale, shadow overcoming the land as if there was no hope of any light. Ravens hovering all over the land: bringing the aura of death in the land. Slowly I started walking to the dim road, the little breeze quietly urging me to go on.

It was a cloudless night, with only one star shining in the sky. My eyes adjusted to the sudden light ahead of me. The star’s light, reflecting through the ocean.  I sat below a wilted tree, wondering where I was and what my purpose was. Staring at the glassy ocean, unwanted memories started to resurface.

Being a child I had always wandered all alone, despite of my mother’s warnings. No, I wasn’t the type to stay in one place but that soon had changed. In a forest I once wandered, I saw a bright light from a cave. Curiosity killed the cat and I went in to check it out to find a man badly wounded. His hair was white as snow; his half-opened eyes were blue as the sky above. And when I saw the elegant wings on his back I knew he was an angel.

The man looked up to me and gave me a very weak smile, a smile that doesn’t fit an angel. I ran to him and begged him to live. I don’t know why but I just did. The man had a tear on his eye now, saying something in a language I cannot understand. With his right hand he pulled out an object from his pocket and gave it to me.

“Forgive me Young one”

Then in a flash of light he disappeared into the necklace into my hand, memories of him suddenly flashing through my mind. Destruction, Chaos and Anarchy was all I saw. A town burned down by black flames, and a person looking at me.

No, I couldn’t forget that memory. The memory shattered and I was yet again in the dark vale, in front of a mansion that I am restricted to enter.

This was the heart of the angel, full of misery and regret. The single star that was the tear he had shown that day. No hope in sight and no way to lighten his heavy heart.
