The Bowman

The Bowman

A Story by Corey O'Brien
"

Part one of three of a short story in progress.

"
"What..have I done?"
My body shudders under the might of the earth tearing itself asunder. The fires raining from the sky and erupting from the ground deafen the screams of all I'd unknowingly condemned. So many questions fill my mind as civilization crumbles around me,
"What have I...done?"
How could a slave to the gods be the cause of this armageddon against humanity? A simple messenger of fate, neither dead nor alive. It was my duty to deliver fate to those whose sin overcame them. Adulterers, murderers, and even petty thieves were at my mercy. With bow in hand I'd loose the bolt to pierce them with the outcome of their transgressions. At least that's what I was led to believe, however amongst this torrent of hellfire, blind faith seems more and more like the creed of a fool.
