reliving the past

reliving the past

A Poem by Aaron Sturgis
"

This was originally written as a song - not a poem.

"

what a beautiful picture
orchestration of hosts
the colors burst at the seams as the heavens seem to boast
"what a painting we've created",
link the pen to the brush,
each inkstroke so sudden, bringing life forth from nothing, and oh, how lush

how lush the tapestry appears,
and oh, what symmetry reveals

moonlight shining so vibrant,
all the beauty it gleams,
and every heartbeat and soul seems to burst at the seams,
"we are listless and wandering - we are still so afraid",
all you impassive and searching, can you tell us what it means?

broken intricacies will show,
a side of one that should never be known,
and oh, a stray light will cast,
it's spotlight on your heartache,
son, you're free at last

It's beautiful. Parts of it seem more poetry to be read than poetry to be sung. but still, it shows how our pasts can appear and how they bind us as well as hold us up.
This is a good piece of work.
