Into yestesterday's, Into today's

Into yestesterday's, Into today's

A Poem by Midnight_Mask

It’s the way eyes sparkle grey in the dark,

Like doorways into someone’s’ soul, their very heart.

If you look close, you can see their past,

A battlefield of war, wreck and dust.

People try to reach out with helping hands,

But no-one knows how to hide in trenches’, all alone, no going home.

This is how we turn away,

Shy away,

Into yesterdays.

Hiding the pain again

Shames again,

Into today’s.

Relighting the fear in those eyes.

Scarcely searching the shadows,

Looking and seeing people who belong,

And the next minute, their gone.

It’s all, fading away.

Again, again.

I know, Time has frayed away.

Inside, I’m not alive.
