1984, Sixteen years late!

1984, Sixteen years late!

A Poem by Midnight Shadow
"

This is something I wrote a couple years back. An ode to the asses in charge!

"

The towers coming down
Was just the beginning.
Bush wanted a war
For unlimited spending.
So millions could disappear
Without any question,
Accountability,
Or unbiased inspection.
To fatten legislative wallets
Through Corporate U.S.A.
Without we the people
Getting in the way.
Because we are too distracted
Or simply too afraid,
To see the way that the system
Is being played.

The towers coming down
Was just the beginning
Bush needed a war
To keep us all spinning.
So power could be snatched up
Beyond what was needed
To ensure that his legacy
Would not be defeated.
A legacy of greed
Hate and deception.
Taking democracy
In a dangerous direction.
Crossing lines blatantly
That have always been forbidden,
But never fear, for the rules
Are being re-written!

1984,
Sixteen years late.
Manufactured news,
Wars, fear, and hate.
The rich getting richer
On the backs of the poor.
Who knows what the future
Now has in store.

The towers coming down
Was just the beginning.
Bush built a war
That there is no winning.
For motives unknown
To the people of the nation,
Known only to execs
Of the oil corporations.
Igniting world rage
Sacrificing thousands
To get oil for our addicts
Cheaper by the gallon.
But then heroes come cheap
When you recruit the poor,
Who you can easily bury
Discreetly then ignore!

1984,
in the new millenium.
History will be written
And then promptly undone.
We will be monitored,
Tagged, tracked and more.
That seems to be the future
We now have in store.

The towers coming down
Was simply the spark
That the Bush regime needed
To take us in the dark.
The Axis is working
Rumsfeld, Bush, and Rove
Pushing the agendas
Written by the Grove.
The blame never settles
It’s just shifted and transferred.
As all of our questions
Stay dodged and unanswered.
And the tragedies continue
To fall through their inept hands,
Or maybe that’s all just
Been a part of their plans!

1984,
sixteen years late.
Manufactured news,
Propaganda and hate.
The scales have broken
And fallen to the floor
A portent of the future
They have put in store.

1984,
In the new millenium.
History will be written
Before it’s even been done.
The powers that keep
Spinning out of control
Have altered our future
As their hate takes it’s toll.

The towers coming down
Was just the beginning,
And it’s up to all of us
To bring about an ending!

You did an excellent excellent job with this and if you're not aware there is a group online called poets against the war - I'm sure of the address but you can google this - this poem would be perfect there.

Well written, and filled with sincere passion. I don't agree with all you said, but I don't rate on that. I read, and if after I read I feel something..then I like it. Much of what you've written I agree with, but I look for how you wrote it, the passion in it. Too many times I've seen pieces trashed because a person differs with the writers intent. That is sad. That is an attack on free speech. I will rate this piece high because of the thought put into it, and because the thought of living in a world where we all must think alike is scary to me. Excellent write. Rain..
