How Are YouA Poem by Lauren JonesJust a pondering of mine“How are you?” Such a simple question but it doesn’t not ask for a simple response. “I’m fine” but are you really? “I’m here” but is that all? “I’ve been better” but have you been worse? Up and down on the roller coaster of life Surviving our bipolar days Wandering through our schizophrenic world All of us lost in a sea of conflicting emotions Anxiety, happiness, lust Loss, grief, unity How do we relate the complexity of our universe in one response? How can we answer the question to the full extent? “I’m alive and tingling with warring sensations” “I’m torn apart by wanderlust and agoraphobia” “I want to fly with joy but I am tied to an anchor of sorrow” Our world is not simple so neither are we Answer me this: “How are you?” © 2013 Lauren JonesReviews
