Summer Evening

Summer Evening

A Poem by Lisa C
"

Relax and enjoy the warm summer evening with family and friends

"

After the heat of the day has faded
as dusk starts to settle
pull up a chair and grab a glass
sit and listen to the world around you
the sound of birds singing, people talking
children laughing, dogs barking and music playing

As the daylight starts to disappear
dusk deepens, the colours of day change
from the turquoise sky and fluffy clouds of a warm day
to the rich orange and reds of a sunset
then the gorgeous purples and dark blues
finally to almost black with bright twinkling stars

The air cools a light breeze whispers across your warm skin
making you shiver in delight
the smell of a barbecue drift’s on the air
making your mouth water
the floral perfume of a nearby flower
and the scent of freshly cut grass
tickle your senses

Relax and enjoy
the warm summer evening
with family and friends
enjoy a meal and a glass or two
of your favourite drink
a perfect end to a beautiful day

We need more good days dear Lisa. Had the first warm day of Spring. I took the grandchildren to the park. They were very happy. The simple days, the best days. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. I enjoyed this one.
