Pill Popper

Pill Popper

A Poem by Brittni Smyers Hill

I thought it would be
all Girl, Interrupted and s**t,
One day I'm here, the next day,
"F**k my life, that's it."
Framily would never see it coming,
but I thought they'd be appreciate it,
No more sad sack rape victim.
Congratulations folks! This is your life, Upgraded!
The thing nobody tells you is Suicide kills,
unless your follow through blows.
Then, it's just embarrassing,
and now, EVERYBODY knows.
I never wanted to hurt anybody,
but I was shattered, I couldn't deal.
My tourniquet wasn't working,
Next stop: Pills
Of course, in the multiverse that is Me,
I'd f**k it up, Survive,
and wake up to a broken family,
Mea culpa, Mea Culpa, MEA CULPA,
THIS WOUNDED CREATURE IS NOT ME,
I won't hurt y'all no more, I'm fine,
I'll be the Not-A-Burden I used to be.
Me, The Fixer, the one who's got your back,
when you're running with your woes,
Now the cause, not the cure, and well,
You know how that s**t goes.
