Abyss

Abyss

A Poem by Mico Arevalo

As I stepped inside a dark room
I found myself holding a light
The room was full of illusions
I saw a door ahead of me
The darkness overwhelmed me.

Now, I was holding a sharp knife
As I walked in front of the door
I felt anger surrounding me;
The wrath insidr me, awakaned.

I opened the red door and I fell.
Icarus falling to his death.
I saw all the pain and anger
Nothingness was all I could see.

Anger, sadness, sorrow, and hate;
I felt like the world had kicked me in the curb.
These feelings, I wanted to stop.
Every bad memory were alive.

A lightning bolt pierced through the heart
Nothingness was all I could see.
I found myself holding nothing.
I found myself holding silence.

There are a few typos, but I see that you have not made a correction that another reviewer suggested 6 days ago, so I won't spend extra time on this. All in all, powerful writing & interesting imagery. When you use "Icarus" I thought you might include some of the imagery from this myth since it's well-known -- flying, getting too close to the sun, then the wax melts that holds feathers to the wings, so he falls & dies. I felt that your poem was a similar, parallel story, but it would've been stronger if you included the iconic Icarus imagery about flying & wings melted from the sun (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie

Only one error I could see " The wrath inside me awakened." Otherwise well constructed and a little haunting at the abyss you've created. Nice piece.

Sometimes both light and darkness can be illusions. Making us unhappier than we are. But hope is for real.

I specifically love the last couplet.
