![]() You Wrote Me A Song One NightA Poem by Lost in Wonderland
I kept that song you composed
The one with love dripping From every note you played And I hug my pillow tight As if it were you instead On these cold, lonely nights. In this song, you do not sing But that does not mean I don't hear a thousand words Spoken deep from your soul. "I want to go back", I whisper to my pillow Only on the very worst nights, But I can never go back, Not after all the fear that dragged me, Kicking and screaming, away from you forever. I shut the door and locked it Erasing all evidence of your love Every kiss, every photograph, Every embrace, every viscous fight, From the dark, forest path That calls itself my pitiful life But I can't bear to let go of that one song The beauty of it's melody, Dancing with me in it's complexity, It reminds me of the good, The light seeping through the branches, The happiness I once had.
