A Farewell to SummerA Poem by Lost in WonderlandThere was a bird that whispered to me, His voice soft and lithe, Begging, pleading, “Come dance with me” Well who was I to deny? I twirled and laughed while he sang his song, A chorus of chirps and tweets. Until a cool breeze carried him along, Bidding me goodbye ‘til spring. I looked around, seeing the world anew: Leaves raining orange and red, Grey clouds smothering the sky so blue, Flowers drooping their weary heads. A chill races through my fingers and toes, The sun begins to hide. Now what can I do but sigh and moan, While I wait for summertime. © 2013 Lost in WonderlandReviews
