She Stands with Her Head Held HighA Poem by Lost in Wonderland
She stands with her head held high
Even as she's breaking inside Even when she longs to cry Only letting her walls down When she's alone at night She walks with her shoulders strong Even when she feels like she doesn't belong Even when that song comes on That makes her wish she was dead and gone She lives with a constant smile Sealing off the emotion in her eyes Even when she's limped along for miles Searching for hope all the while Trying to keep dancing with all her might Even when there's no end to the darkness in sight She puts on this facade Happy like a bird and calm as a pond So no one can tell That everything is broken and wrong She does it for simplicity For their peace and ease Because she thinks dropping this act Would make them all run to leave
