"Seth, I know.. and it's okay, I mean we all have ways of dealing with stuff that has happend to us ..even if we didn't exactly like it," she smiled and he chuckled , hearing that she had teased about his wording.
He glanced up at her to see that she was looking at him. Getting caught, she looked away. He couldn't help but smile, which he tried to hide. 'Why was she looking at me like that?' than mentally smacked himself, saying that he was just overreacting..
"So, um..Do you think we could.. be friends?" Jamie asked, again unsure of what to say to him.
He had caught her looking at him, well, studying him really. It'd just be so long since she had seen him.. She had honestly missed his company, his voice.. Even if it was just one day she had spent with him, he had an unknown impact on her.
And when he had grinned at her, her pulse quickened. Yes, indeed an impact..
"Yeah, friends would be great." he said to her. His mind was doing flips right now. He hadn't expected she would forgive him at all, so of course he would be happy.. even as friends.
They smiled at each other as they began walking to the library doors, which he held open for her and she thanked him.
'Yes,' Jamie thought. 'it has indeed been a good day..'
It was nearing seven now, and Jamie was just finishing her report when Seth had spotted her and slowly and quietly made his way towards the table she was at.
Even though he was trying to be sneaky, and she was all but banging her fingers on her laptop as she finished her paper, she still heard him.
"I know you're there." Jamie said, just above a whisper.
He smirked as said: "Well, maybe I was trying to get caught. Mind if I sit?"
"Well only if you can squeeze yourself in. The chairs are taken and the table is full." Jamie said sarcastically, not taking her eyes off the screen.
The library was empty except for Seth, Jamie, and Tony, an older man who had been working at the library for ten years now.
He glanced at the empty chairs, then the empty table that had nothing on it except for her bag.
"Hmm, well it is crowded," He took a seat across from her and watched as she saved her report and then closed the the laptop, placing it in her bag.
She glanced up at him, and again saw that even when he was sitting down, he still looked quite tall...
"What?" Seth asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Huh?" She guess she must have been staring.
He chuckled before he head footsteps approaching behind him.
"I don't think anyone is coming for the rest of the night, Seth. You can go on home." Tony said as he placed his hand on Seth's shoulder and gave a light squeeze before turning his attention to Jamie.
"Ah, if it isn't Jamie Luthor. Haven't seen you around in a while, what happend to you?" Tony smiled and she happily returned the favor.
"I spent the summer at home with my own books," She smiled shyly at him, which sent Seth's heartbeat kicking. Something about her smile...
"I see.. Well you must promise to come around soon. All these books must be getting lonely." He glanced around the rather large library before he nodded and smiled his goodbye to both Jamie and Seth.
"Well, since you're off, do you need a ride home or are you planning to run into other girls tonight? Literally." Jamie palyfully smiled at him, but the real question was there. Did he have a girlfriend or someone he was interested in?
He slowly glanced up at her, as she was now standing, and couldn't help but laugh at her.
She stood where she was. He had never really laughed like that before.. she enjoyed the sound much more than she should have...
"Um, well.." fully composed now, he tried to think of what to tell her, saying that he didn't really have a home.. "Uhh, well I guess... but I'm kinda.. not staying at my house... tonight." Wasn't fully a lie really...
"Okay, then. Let's go." Jamie smiled as he got up and followed her to the doors.
He wondered what she would think of his little treehouse... He wasnt too worried on the looks, saying that he fixed it up a bit and had bought a matress rather cheap.. but it did look a bit home-ish. Either way, there was still a part of him worried. He hoped she wouldn't ask questions... but most of all, he hoped she would be okay with it....
An adventure it will be....
