Rain

Rain

A Poem by Mick Burke
"

Not one for the Irish tourist board.

"

Poets usually romanticise rain,

But take it from me, the rain is a pain.

Yeah, we need it for flowers, for trees and for grass,

But if you're planning a picnic it's a pain in the a*s!

When my plans are spoiled once again by the rain,

I shouldn't be shocked, I don't live in Spain.

No, I live in ireland, land of legend and lore,

Where you know you'll get wet when you walk out the door.

The rainfall statistics provide all the proof,

It'd be a great country, if it just had a roof!

ahhaha great opener mick, made me feel really appreciative of this sub tropical climate in bolivia, cant tell you that i miss those grey skies, the cold hard drizzle waiting for buses in puddles.

quick joke: an irish guy was living abroad for many years and he visited a doctor. he told the doctor that he's missing ireland a lot and that its really getting him down and depressed and if he could buy some pills. but the doctor said that there's no need for any pills just go back to your house, and have a cold shower with all your clothes on for about an hour every day, and see how you makes you feel.

Thank you.
That must be depressing. I read once that there's a little town in Scotland where it reains virtually all the time. And the suicide rate is higher there than anyplace in the world. Though I can't imagine anyone lucky enough to lived in such wonderful countries as Scotland or Ireland ever being that unhappy.
