The Scales Are WrongA Poem by Mick BurkeAnorexic denial
The scales are wrong! I weigh more than that. I looked in the mirror, I'm ugly and fat.
My friends are wrong! They say I'm too thin. I sneak off on my own, put my lunch in the bin.
The doctors are wrong! They say I need food. I'll never get slim with that attitude.
My parents are wrong! They say that I'm dying. My father looks broken, my mother is crying.
The scales are wrong! I weigh more than that. I looked in the mirror, I'm ugly and fat.
