Some questions For God

Some questions For God

A Poem by Mick Burke
"

Nothing too serious...

"

Some things in life just strike me as odd,

They give rise to some serious questions for God.

Folk often ask about war and disease,

My questions are simpler, my questions are these....

The first thing I'd like for you to explain,

Is when I plan a barbecue, why do you make it rain?

And when you're finished explaining that,

Tell me why the nice food is what makes me fat!

Then, if you wouldn't mind telling me please,

How come, when I'm late, I can't find my keys?

And why is exercise such a huge bore,

That leaves my muscles feeling tired and sore?

And why is the right thing to do always hard?

Why can I get paper cuts from a sympathy card?

Why can I pick winners in every horse race,

But when I put on a bet, they fall on their face?

And why evolution? Why do things have to change?

Would getting it right from the start have been strange?

Why are some people tall, when others are short?

Why do some have a natural talent for sport?

Sun rises in the East, and sets in the West,

What made you decide that that would be best?

And why put thorns on the prettiest flower?

Why does the phone ring when I'm in the shower?

Explanations or answers would be really grand,

help me figure out things I don't understand.

For a supposedly all-powerful kind of a guy,

You've made some strange choices, and I'd like to know why!

Thanks for reading Andrew. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I also read Andrew Mitchell's poem, and there really aren't any answers. You can't second-guess God.

This is very cool. Thought-provoking, and the rhyme scheme flows naturally and without any bulky coercion. I lose my keys often, too; actually, I just forget to pick them up in the first place. Thank you for the read.
