Another LieA Poem by Michelle RachelA collection of my thoughts...Don’t know how I’m
gonna get thru The pain, distress,
what am I gonna do Cuz I have to deal
with this without you You were always the
strong one, You were always my
rock, you carried me along Like nothing would
ever go wrong But I knew the
meaning of the song I knew that behind
the rhyme Was a silly little
lie Promising a world
void of pain A world where
everything was safe But that’s not
reality, That’s not real to me Because I’ve seen the
real world And it’s not pretty I don’t know what to
do to get you to see That this world, and
what you make it out to be Is another lie It’s cold dark and
dangerous And someday you’ll
find out that what I’m telling ya Isn’t a lie, it’s the
reality of the world that you live in But you don’t wanna
see, you stop listening When I show you you’re
really not living You’re putting on a
face Because you think
this life is a race And you’ve been
brainwashed into thinking That the good guys
always finish last Another lie I told myself many
times That I wasn’t good
enough, And now look where I
am The cards in my hand Are like a golf ball
in sand The lights are on but
nobodys’ home I up and wandered off
toward rome Because I got tired
of dealing with the crap We need to get off
our daddy’s laps And take the world
the way it’s handed to us Because that’s how we
grow up We’re never going to
get anywhere if we keep believing Another lie They tell me they
don’t love me, But they don’t know
that I can see Through the mask they
put on so carefully I see the pain in
their eyes I hear the screams
that echo the skies They don’t know the
reason that they are alive But I could tell
them, because I know I know the pain on
the river they insist to go If only I could stop
them I know That I could actually
keep them afloat But they won’t, they
don’t Believe my word, hear
my voice, And even though it’s
their choice, Why do they choose to
believe Another lie?! © 2017 Michelle Rachel |
